This week, we take you behind the scenes into the making of "Tracks That Burn." Artist Charlie Mostow explains his process and shares the rough sketches that went into the piece.

These drawings were done in preparation for a final illustration.

These are plastic toy horses. I like to draw from life rather than a photograph. It helps me maintain my three dimensional sense of the object, the roundness it has, the weight of it, and the way that it is balanced. If I draw from a photo the drawing tends to be flat.

The drawings were all done within a 3hr period. I started with 1min drawings, then 2min, then 5min, and finally 10min.
